AD AFFILIATE LINKS

I am currently, sat here writing this entry, after just getting back from an afternoon spent walking through the snow with both Joe and our dog, Lulu. Finally, it snowed down here in South East England, after watching the North of England being blessed with 3 weeks of glorious snow. For the past few weeks, the weather man has teased us with snow throughout the weeks, all for it to come to no avail and us being left somewhat disappointed with the continuous typical English weather of grey skies and rain.

Stepping out today, I literally felt like a kid on Christmas Day – and lets face it, seeing as we had ‘Christmas 2020’ cancelled on us, last minute by the UK Government, today was very much the day we all needed. All of which, could not have been more evident by the smiles on the adults’ faces that we passed during today’s walk. And yes, I said, ‘Adult faces’ because it is not often you walk past many adults whom have a ‘fun loving and energetic’ energy around them, especially during the last few months.

Having being blessed with today and being amongst the snow and nature. It got me thinking more about ‘nature’ and how as a constant presence in our life, it is a thing that is often is taken for granted (and neglected) by us all. Nature, with its resilience, faces its challenges season upon season, year upon year, challenges of which are either natural and/or manmade, and yet still, Nature continues to persevere and overcome any adversity thrown upon its way.

Throughout 2020 and the Lockdown measures we have faced, we have continuously been comforted by our ‘one a day’ walks and the blessings of our long English Summer and warm colourful Autumn. And looking back on it, I cannot help but think our national experience of 2020 and Lockdowns would have been so much tougher without the presence of nature and the great weather we were blessed with throughout the year. In fact, on the days in this month, when I have found Lockdown particularly tough I have looked onto and look forward to the seasons of Spring and Summer and think about how much joy we will get from the flowers re-blooming, lighter and longer days and the warmer weathers allowing us to be more active outside.

With the above in mind, and maybe during your next period of lowness during this Lockdown, why not too, think onto the lighter times ahead and write a list of what you would like to do (even in restriction) once Spring arrives – as visualising it and planning, can help ease the anxiety around the uncertainty ahead, as well as bring you comfort by planning things ahead to look forward to… To start you off, I have a created a small list of my own below – one of which I intend to add to, over the next few weeks.

  • As the flowers begin to bloom, spend time taking cuts of flowers on my walks/garden, to bring back home and feel the vases in our house.
  • Spend more lazy afternoons / lunch breaks – in the garden, reading and listening to music without putting a time limit to myself.
  • Spend more time going on socially distanced walks with friends, something I wasn’t able to do due to Joe was feeling very unwell.
  • Visiting and knocking on the houses of anyone alone or elderly to see if I can get some shopping for them and/or dropping off random gifts.
  • Run more – I loved running last year and with it being so dark early in the morning and often frozen – I have really missed running – as it gave me a sense of freedom and control, all whilst others slept.
  • Paint – I am not the most creative with my hands and was not very good at Art at all whilst I was at school – but I want to give it a go! (And not aim for perfection! To see if it is something that I may come to enjoy in my adult life…

I hope you will join in on this exercise with me and look forward to speaking with you all next week xxx
