Nat’s Monthly Empties – Beauty Products Review – March 2021

Good afternoon and welcome back to my second post of this kind 🙂 As mentioned before, ‘Nat’s Monthly Empties’ is a monthly round up and honest review of any beauty products that I have used up, ‘emptied’ that month or products that I have nearly finished, which I maybe just didn’t fall in love with.

This idea was born out of me constantly trying to find new products which ‘work’ before wasting my hard earned money on buying items which ultimately end up disappointing you and leaving you with regret. So I thought, what I would love to find on the internet, is someone with a similar skin ‘make up’ (oily/combination), colouring, hair, style etc. where they give honest reviews on products that they have bought, describing what they did and didn’t like about the products, so that I could make up my mind as to whether to buy them for myself.

So with that being said, I thought what better content could I produce by doing that myself and hopefully over time, you may come to look forward to these reviews, maybe even suggesting products that you would like me to try first before you purchase and/or by seeing my thoughts in my monthly round up, I may introduce you to a product that you have not seen before and inspire you to give it a try. And as an added bonus, I will also be picking my favourite clothing item of the month and adding it to the bottom of the post too 🙂

The format of these Posts will be to list 3 ‘empty’ items, give it a ONE word review using the words ‘NEED / TRY / PASS’ only and then follow up with a quick overview of what I think about the product.

Nat’s Monthly Item 1:

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Cleanser

PRICE: £18.00

ONE WORD REVIEW: TRY

This product was my saviour product whilst I struggled with Acne and was on Roaccutane, as it allowed me to clean my skin and not aggravate my skin at the same time. In addition and the key thing for me at the time, it contained no oils which meant that it wouldn’t leave my skin flaring up again from acne.

The consistency of the product is definitely different to most cleansers, as when you add water to it, it doesn’t really ‘foam up’ which I must say, I definitely missed, when I first started using it, but I quickly got over it, once I noticed the benefits of using it. I use it to double cleanse my skin at night and once in the morning and it has for some time left me spot free.

I LOVE this product and I love the ‘support’ (yes I said support!) it gave me whilst struggling with acne, even when I try other cleansers, I still often come back to this one, especially when I feel like I need to strip my skin care back. I have rated this as a ‘TRY’ as I think this may not be for everyone and there may be better cleansers out there if your skin can handle using oils. However, for me if you are struggling with Acne and even more so if you are on Roaccutane, then I would most definitely upgrade this rating from a ‘TRY’ to a ‘NEED’ as this product definitely pays back in dividends.

Nat’s Monthly Item 2:

MAC Satin Lipstick in Colour – Twig

Price: 17.50

ONE WORD REVIEW: NEED

Now this lipstick is definitely my OG lipstick! I seriously cannot remember just how long I have been buying this lipstick…probably for a whole long decade! I love this lipstick, because of the way it feels on my lips, it lasts for a good few hours, never leaves my lips feeling dry and leaves a sheen on your lips which makes your lips look ‘juicy’ and healthy, without having that ‘lipgloss’ look. The MAC Satin Lipstick range, really is a treat and I’m sure you have no doubt probably already heard of it, but I couldn’t not mention this product, once I finished this one this month.

The colour I use, is the colour ‘Twig’ and it works great as an everyday colour with my skin tone, especially during the winter months. If you have not tried this range of lipstick before, then I definitely recommend it, finding a colour that works for you best, as the price is reasonable, it lasts for ages and there is a wide range of colours available for all skin tones.

Nat’s Monthly Item 3:

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream

Price: £28.00

ONE WORD REVIEW: NEED

Here we have another one of my holy grail products that I used whilst I was on Roaccuatane for my Acne. The moisturiser was designed to be paired with the cleanser that I described in item 1 above. Once again, the key great properties of this product is the fact that it is oil-free and does not aggravate your skin when it is extremely sensitive.

The texture of this product is of a ‘gel like’ substance and when you place it on your face, there is no denying its feeling, as it seriously does feel like you are giving your face a drink of water. It is super hydrating, it feels as if you are doing something good for your skin and most of all it doesn’t leave products on your skin that will end up causing spots.

For us, this is an all-rounder product, which is used by both my partner and myself. During Joe struggling with Long COVID, his skin became incredibly dry and very sensitive whilst he was very ill. He used this for his face and it helped with the dryness of skin and soothed his face whilst not aggravating it. Even though, I used this product solely for when I was struggling with acne, I still use this product often to this day, especially when I wish to give my skin a good ‘drink’ of hydration. I think this is a product that will always remain in our bathroom cabinet for many years to come.

Nat’s Favourite Clothing Item of the Month:

Nasty Gal – Live It Up Lace-Up Wellie Ankle Boots

Price: £29.25

THOUGHTS: NEED

What can I say?! I love, love, love these boots! Although these are on my monthly favourite list, I have had these boots since October last year and have worn them so many times, to the point I am wondering if I should get a second pair for this year, in case they don’t sell them next season.

These boots are great, as even though they are made of materials for wellies, they can be worn all year… for the many numerous country walks we have been on, a coffee date with friends, worn to toughen up girly skirt looks as well as (fingers crossed) the festivals over the summer. And last of all – for this price, it is absolute bargain. They are comfortable, versatile and can be worn throughout most of the seasons. If you haven’t got these yet, then all I can say is, ‘why not?’ 🙂

I hope you enjoyed this month’s post 🙂 If you do go on to buy any of these products, then please let me know in the comment section below.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your week all xxx
