Lookbook Diary | 2021: Week 2
AD AFFILIATE LINKS
Welcome to my first Look Book Diary entry of the year… I am looking forward to these beoming a regular occurrence throughout the year. Hoping that my wish for 2021, ‘to be more consistent’ with all things that I do, will continue and remain for the remainder of the year.
My hope for these posts, ‘Lookbook Diairies’, is for them to be a lot more informal in nature, than my regular posts on this blog. With the Posts, providing a space for me to write my weekly ‘mind wanderings’, with an aim, that writing these posts will be beneficial to both myself and you – as they will form a journal entry backdrop to my year, as well as allowing you to learn a bit more about me, whilst being ‘posts’ that I put no pressure on myself for them to be ‘perfect’. ‘Perfection,’ a trait, that I often battle with. So be aware, these entries may be, a little colloquial in nature, dotted with spelling mistakes and slang, but the aim for them, are for them to be as real as possible ‘like a weekly conversation with a friend’, whilst bringing you up-to-date with items that I have worn / posted on instagram each week – so it is like having a girly chat with a mixture of fashion added in.
Week 2 into the year and honestly, I can’t believe it. For me, it feels like we are well and truly into the year, and it has started off quickly. However, its been one of the weirdest starts to the year, as it hasn’t been filled with the normal ‘new beginnings’ and general collective enthusiasm felt for the start of the year…
I, myself, like many, thought this year would mark the end of 2020, living through a global pandemic and a year where we would start to regain our normal lives. Putting ourselves into a position, where we could start planning elements of our life again. Starting the year, in the UK, with the announcement of a nationwide Lockdown with the earliest end date being set for the end of February, was definitely a great big slap in the face. And for me, it took myself a couple of days to get my head around… Whilst I must say, I did kind of expect it, given the way the last two weeks of December ended in the UK with the ‘cancelling of Christmas’ and the soaring COVID figures., it did not however, make it any easier, to receive the news of our Lockdown.
Nevertheless, starting the year afresh, didn’t seem to be the case and mentally it took a lot of adapting for me, to accept our current predicament. Personally, for Joe and I living a life in Lockdown, feels very much the only life we are only able to lead at the moment anyways, until Joe has recovered more from Long COVID. His inability to socialise, walk very far or to do tasks at length, means that we are kinda confined to a life at home. However, there is one thing, choosing to live a life like this, than another, to have this lifestyle as your only option.
What has kept my head afloat mentally for the past couple of weeks, is maintaining a consistent workout regime and working on my goals for the month. Whilst I hadn’t yet set defined goals for the month, the work associated with costing ALL elements of our potential house build has flowed on from the month of December and has kept me going for the past couple of weeks in January.
I think working towards a goal, ‘goals’ in general, has helped me a lot this month and pretty much throughout the most of 2020. As for person like myself, who likes to feel like we are continually moving forward, 2020 and life in a global pandemic is very hard, as it feels like your life ‘itself’ is out of your control and you feel stagnant, unable to move forward. However, setting goals and achieving them, has allowed me to feel like I am moving forward in some way, even if it isn’t in a way you had originally imagined. It has given me purpose and a drive for the day/week/month and year, and has been key to my mindset generally, whilst also providing a healthy amount of ‘feel good chemicals’ as and when I have achieved a goal or ticked a task off of the To Do List.
Anyways, enough rambling from me and thank you for taking the time to read this week’s post. I hope you all remain safe and will speak to you all next week xxx
Thought for the week: What will keep you moving forward this week?
Set yourself 3x small obtainable goals,
to give yourself purpose and something to achieve this week.
